Azerbaijani military set up checkpoint in Lachin corridor

On the eve of the Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, units of the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan set up a checkpoint at the entrance to the Lachin corridor at the bridge over the Akera River from the Armenian side. The Russian Defense Ministry called it a result of "unilateral and noncoordinated" actions by Baku. PACE, the U.S. State Department, the French, British and Canadian Foreign Ministries also condemned the checkpoints.

According to the NKR Ministry of Health, the installation of the checkpoint stopped the transportation of patients through the Lachin corridor. In his turn, NKR State Minister Gurgen Nersisian said that the Metskaladeresi, Kirov, Yegtsaokh, and Turshsu communities were blocked.
