UN | "We Call for Free and Safe Movement along the Lachin Corridor"

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres once again called for free and safe movement along the Lachin corridor. The Press Secretary of the UN Secretary General Stéphane Dujarric told "Armenpress" about this.
"The Secretary General expressed his concern about the current situation in his statement dated December 14, 2022. These concerns were also expressed by the Secretariat during an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council convened at the request of Armenia on December 20, 2022. The Secretary General reaffirms his calls to de-escalate tensions and ensure free and safe movement along the corridor in accordance with the previously reached agreements, he expresses his support for mediation efforts,” Dujarric said in response to an inquiry from Armenpress, referring to the fact that Azerbaijan has been keeps the Lachin corridor closed, as a result, a humanitarian crisis began in Artsakh, and about 120,000 residents are trapped in a blockade.
"The UN missions in Armenia and Azerbaijan continue to maintain open communication with the authorities and international organizations on the spot and are ready to respond if there is an appeal and conditions allow," the UN Secretary General's spokesman said.
