The Foreign Policy Committee of the Flemish Parliament of Belgium adopted a resolution on Artsakh demanding the immediate opening of the Lachin corridor blocked by Azerbaijan and the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the sovereign territory of Armenia. The resolution notes that the Lachin corridor is a vital link connecting Artsakh with the Republic of Armenia, which is blocked by Azerbaijan. The blockade creates a humanitarian crisis for the local Armenian population of Artsakh and prevents access to basic necessities, humanitarian aid. The Foreign Policy Committee of the Flemish Parliament recognizes the urgency of the issue and calls on Azerbaijan to immediately stop the blockade, ensuring the flow of goods, services and the movement of people along the corridor.
Moreover, the resolution stresses the need for the immediate withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the sovereign territory of Armenia. It is noted that the presence of foreign armed forces within the borders of a sovereign State is a violation of international law and a violation of the principles of sovereignty. The resolution calls on the EU to encourage Azerbaijan to stop its hostile policy towards the Armenian people and ensure the rights and security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, who face the threat of genocide.
